An 80-year-old woman lives alone in this desolate village of Uttarakhand, now her story will be shown on the silver screen

A film has been made on the life of an 80-year-old woman living alone in a remote village in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. Filmmaker Vinod Kapri has produced this movie named Pair, which is set against the backdrop of a ghost village that has become deserted due to migration from the mountains. Its world premiere will be held at the Tallinn Black Night International Film Festival in Estonia, a European country.
This film is centered on the life of an elderly woman living in Gadtir village of Berinag block of Pithoragarh. 80-year-old Heera Devi will now be seen on the silver screen. Kapri said that the film Pair is a love story of an 80-year-old couple, which also includes the serious issue of migration in the hill state. This will be the only official entry from India in the prestigious film festival.
Vinod Kapri, who has been preparing for this film for the last several years, got information about the elderly woman through one of his friends. He wanted to cast local artists from the village in his film and for this he went to many nearby villages and selected two people who could fit this role. In the film, this couple is waiting for their death.
Padam Singh and Heera Devi, who appeared in the film, both are residents of Berinag tehsil of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. Padam is a retired army jawan, who now works as a farmer. Heera Devi takes care of buffaloes at home and collects wood and grass from the forest.
