Prime Minister Modi held talks with the leaders of many countries including America on the occasion of G-20 Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with leaders of several countries of the world including the US, Australia, UK, Italy, Brazil, Singapore and Spain during the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who is hosting the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

PM Modi, who arrived after completing his two-day visit to Nigeria, also met United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the summit. PM Modi also held talks with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

The Prime Minister also met Spanish President Pedro Sanchez, who visited India on an official visit last month. In his address on the first day of the G20 Summit on Monday, Prime Minister Modi said that countries of the Global South are the worst affected by food, fuel and fertilizer crises caused by global conflicts and the G20 should focus on overcoming this.

What happened with biden

Prime Minister Modi on Monday held a brief conversation with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the G-20 summit. This was their first meeting after the US presidential election. It is not yet known what was discussed between PM Modi and Biden. PM Modi posted on social media platform X along with a photo of the meeting, “With President Joe Biden at the G-20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. It is always a pleasure to meet him.”

In the photo, Modi and Biden are seen holding hands and discussing. There is no clarity yet about the bilateral meeting between Modi and Biden during the G20 summit in this Brazilian city. If there is no pre-scheduled talks between the two leaders during the G20 summit, this brief meeting could be their last face-to-face meeting before Biden hands over the US presidency to Republican leader Donald Trump next year.

Meet the stormer

Prime Minister Modi met his British counterpart Keir Stormer on Tuesday on the sidelines of the G20 summit. During this, he expressed his desire to work together in areas like green energy, security, innovation and technology. Apart from the summit, he met the leaders of many countries including Italy, Indonesia, Norway and Portugal. PM Modi congratulated the British Prime Minister and also shared pictures of his meeting with him.

After the meeting between Stormer and PM Modi, ’10 Downing Street (official residence of the British Prime Minister) in London said that Britain will seek a new strategic partnership with India, which will include a trade agreement as well as deepening cooperation in areas such as security, education, technology and climate change.

Stormer has announced that trade talks with India will be resumed in the new year. Stormer’s spokesperson said that Britain is committed to negotiating a trade deal with India, one of the world’s fastest growing economies.

Also met these global leaders

PM Modi on Monday met his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni and discussed ways to deepen ties in the areas of security, trade and technology. “Glad to meet PM Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit. Our talks focused on deepening ties in the areas of defence, security, trade and technology. We also talked about enhancing cooperation in culture, education and other such areas. India-Italy friendship can contribute greatly to making the planet a better place,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also posted about the meeting on X. “The strategic partnership is getting stronger. Prime Minister Modi met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 Brazil Summit in Rio,” the ministry said. “The two leaders welcomed the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29 to further advance and provide momentum to the long-standing India-Italy bilateral relations,” the MEA said. PM Modi also met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and discussed ways to improve ties in the areas of security and healthcare.
