Uttarakhand: A smuggler arrested with 60 kg of ganja, the international price is said to be Rs 15 lakh
Dehradun Police’s campaign against drug smugglers is continuing. Police has arrested a member of Sapera gang involved in drug smuggling. Police has recovered 60 kg of illegal ganja from the accused. Its international value is said to be Rs 15 lakh.
A smuggler arrested with 60 kg of ganja
Police had received information through an informer that a person sitting in a car is bringing a large quantity of ganja from Uttar Pradesh to sell it in Dehradun, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar and Haridwar. As soon as the information was received, the police started the checking campaign. During checking, police stopped a car near CSI Tiraha Old Mussoorie Road. When the car was searched, a large quantity of illegal ganja was recovered from the trunk.
The smuggler was trying to sell ganja at high prices
The person sitting in the car was identified as Bablu son of Rajan resident Mathurawala. During interrogation, the accused told that he has been supplying ganja and hashish for a long time. The accused used to buy large quantities of illegal ganja and charas from Meerut, Muzaffarnagar in UP through a person named Javed and supply it to Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Vikasnagar. The accused said that he sells ganja and charas at high prices by making small packets especially to the people living in slums.
Ganja used to reach UP through container
The accused said that he also supplies the said goods to the persons mentioned by Javed. During interrogation, it was found that Javed gets large quantities of illegal ganja from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh through containers. After this, the containers are parked in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar. Where the peddlers put the big packets of ganja and charas on them in their vehicles and supply them to different states of North India.
Case registered against the accused
The accused Bablu also buys ganja and charas in different vehicles once in two-three days. The accused was going to supply the said ganja in Sapera Basti, Kath Bangla Basti, Mathura Wala Basti, Chandrabhaga Basti areas of Dehradun. Police has registered a case against the accused under NDPS Act.
