Uttarakhand: 57.64 percent voting took place in Kedarnath by-election, women again won the voting, result will be declared on 23rd
The much-awaited and much talked about Kedarnath assembly seat by-election of Uttarakhand concluded on Wednesday, November 20. Women voters once again left men far behind in terms of awareness. According to the preliminary report, 57.64 percent voting has taken place in the by-election.
There were a total of 90 thousand 875 voters in Kedarnath assembly seat. Voting was slow in the morning. Voting picked up pace after noon. Both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress are hoping for victory. The counting of votes for the by-election is to be held on November 23. The fate of the 6 candidates in the fray will be decided on Saturday.
Total 57.64 percent voting in Kedarnath by-election
Rudraprayag District Election Officer Saurabh Gaharwar said that voting has been completed peacefully and transparently. A total of 57.64 percent voting has taken place in the Kedarnath by-election. He said that this time there were a total of 90 thousand 875 voters in the assembly by-election. These include 45 thousand 956 female voters and 44 thousand 919 male voters.
Female voters left men behind
District Election Officer Saurabh Gaharwar said that a total of 53 thousand 526 voters exercised their franchise in the Kedarnath assembly seat by-election. Among them, 28 thousand 329 female and 25 thousand 197 male voters cast their votes. Saurabh Gaharwar said that peaceful voting took place at all the polling booths under the assembly seat.
3,132 more women voted than men
The voting pattern of the Kedarnath assembly seat once again proved that the women power of Uttarakhand stands ahead of men in every good work. In this festival of democracy too, the mothers and daughters of the hills left the men behind by voting in large numbers. In that by-election, 3,132 more women voted than men. In an assembly seat where there are a total of 90 thousand 875 voters, 3,132 votes matter a lot.
Only this many votes were cast till 9 am
It is getting cold in the mountains. In such a situation, voting was light in the morning in the Kedarnath assembly seat by-election. Only 4.30% voting had taken place till 9 am. This made it seem that the voting percentage in the by-election would be low. Low voting had increased the heartbeats of both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress parties and their candidates.
This much voting had taken place till 11 am
After 2 hours, at 11 am, there was a slight increase in the voting percentage. By 11 am, 17.69% voting took place. That is, in 2 hours between 9 am and 11 am, there was an increase of about 13 percent in voting. This voting also did not seem encouraging in terms of by-election. Its side effect was being seen in Dehradun. Senior Congress leaders were eager to know the ground reality by going to their control room. At the same time, the head of the Uttarakhand government, Pushkar Singh Dhami, was also trying to understand the voting pattern.
Voting percentage increased at 1 pm
While voting was slow till 9 am, it picked up a little by 11 am. The real pace came after 11 am. Then a large number of voters started arriving at the polling booths to cast their votes. By 1 pm, 34.40 percent voting took place in the Kedarnath assembly seat by-election. That is, the voting that took place till 11 am, almost double the voting took place within these 2 hours. After this, statements of victory claims started coming from leaders from both the ruling and opposition sides.
This many votes were cast till 3 pm
The pace that voting picked up after 11 am continued till 3 pm. By 3 pm, 47 percent voting had taken place in the Kedarnath assembly seat by-election. In such a situation, it seemed that the voting percentage would cross 60. During this time, Congress leader of opposition in the assembly Yashpal Arya reached the party’s election control room in Dehradun. While he claimed victory of his candidate, he also made allegations against the government and administration.
Voting crossed 50 percent by 5 pm
However, after 3 pm, voting was not as fast as expected. But the matter of relief was that the voting percentage crossed 50. According to the figures received from the election office at 5 pm, voting had been 56.78 percent. However, by then people were queuing up to vote and the voting percentage was sure to increase further. Finally, when the voting was completed at 6 pm, according to the figures given by the election office, a total of 57.64 percent voting took place in the Kedarnath assembly seat by-election.
Counting of votes will be done on November 23
The counting of votes for the Kedarnath assembly seat by-election will be done on November 23. That means after two days it will be known who will become the MLA of Kedarnath. In the by-election, 6 candidates including BJP’s Asha Nautiyal and Congress’s Manoj Rawat are in the fray. By-election has been held on this seat after the death of BJP MLA Shailarani Rawat.
