President Murmu released a commemorative coin and postage stamp of Rs 75 on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of the country, President Draupadi Murmu released a commemorative coin and postage stamp of Rs 75 in Parliament on Tuesday. Addressing a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament on Constitution Day, Murmu said that the Constitution is a living and progressive document. The President also unveiled the first Sanskrit copy of the Constitution and its Maithili version.

Reflected on the adoption of the Constitution

Addressing the House, President Murmu reflected on the adoption of the Constitution 75 years ago and called it a historic moment. She also emphasized the contribution of 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly in shaping the country’s basic text. The President urged all Indians to imbibe the constitutional ideals in their conduct and perform their fundamental duties and work towards achieving the national goal of a developed India by the year 2047.

President Murmu said that according to the spirit of the Constitution, it is the responsibility of the executive, legislature and judiciary to work together to make the life of the common people easier. He said that during the last few years, the government has taken many steps for the development of all sections of the society, especially the weaker sections. Such decisions have improved the lives of the people and are providing them new opportunities for progress.
