Uttarakhand: The next hearing in the Uttarkashi mosque dispute case will be held on December 5, the government said – permission has not been given to the Mahapanchayat

Uttarakhand High Court heard the petition filed in the case of Sunni community’s mosque dispute located at Bhatwari Road, Uttarkashi. After hearing the case, the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Vivek Bharti Sharma has fixed the next hearing on December 5. The court has asked the District Magistrate Uttarkashi and SP to maintain law and order as well as inform the court.

At the hearing, the petitioner said that a Mahapanchayat is going to be held against the mosque on December 1. This should also be stopped. On this, the state government said that the administration has not given any permission for the Mahapanchayat to be held on December 1. At present, the police is patrolling day and night to maintain law and order there, the situation is normal right now. According to the case, the Minority Seva Samiti of Uttarkashi has filed a petition in this matter and said that since September 24, some organizations are threatening to demolish the Sunni community’s mosque located at Bhatwari Road by calling it illegal.

Due to which a situation of tension has arisen between the two communities there. Therefore, the state government should be given orders to protect the mosque. The petition further said that this mosque is legal. It was built by buying land in 1969. In 1986, the Waqf Commissioner inspected it and the mosque was found to be legal. Petitioner’s advocate Dr. Kartikeya Hari Gupta also told the court that making such inflammatory statements is a violation of the Supreme Court’s order.

The Supreme Court ordered all the states that if inflammatory statements are made against any caste, religion or community, then the state government should directly file a case. If not done, it will be a violation of the Supreme Court’s order. But the state government has not yet filed any case against anyone in this matter. The state government has violated the Supreme Court’s order. Let us tell you that Hindu organizations have called a Mahapanchayat in this matter on December 1.
