Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country to implement yoga policy, know what will be the benefits
Uttarakhand is going to become the first state in the country where yoga policy will be implemented. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government is working towards implementing the country’s ‘First Yoga Policy’. It will play an important role in bringing a new revolution in the field of health by bringing Ayurveda and Yoga together on a wide scale. In the 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo-2024 which started here, the Chief Minister described Uttarakhand as the land of wisdom of Ayurveda and medicinal wealth.
Dhami said that the state government is continuously working to promote Ayurveda in the state. 300 AYUSH based ‘Ayushman Arogya Kendras’ are being operated in the state while AYUSH consultation is being given by more than 70 experts through the e-Sanjeevani portal. 50-bed AYUSH hospitals are being set up in each district, while one village in every district is being established as a model AYUSH village and the production of Ayurvedic herbs is being promoted.
AYUSH policy has been implemented
The Chief Minister said that the state government has implemented the ‘AYUSH Policy’ to accelerate the production of AYUSH, wellness, education, research and medicinal plants. Along with this, the state government will establish 50 new yoga and wellness centers in the coming years besides starting AYUSH ‘tele-consultation’. Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this event in Dehradun and said that the presence of representatives from more than 50 countries and more than 6000 experts in the program and more than 250 stalls set up in the expo are giving evidence of the global acceptance of Ayurveda.
‘English names of herbs should also be promoted’
Chief Minister Dhami said that the state government has requested the Union Ministry of AYUSH to establish an All India Institute of Ayurveda in the state, which will prove to be a milestone in the field of Ayurveda education and research. He requested the experts to promote the English names of the herbs along with the Hindi names so that the local herbs can easily reach the global market. In this regard, he gave the example of ‘Kilmode’ found in the mountains from which medicines are made. Dhami said that the whole world knows its English name ‘Beriberis’ but most of the local people do not know it.
