CM Dhami inspected the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, called the project a boon for Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was on a tour of Chamoli district on Saturday, January 11. In Sewai, Chamoli, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a site inspection of the under-construction Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line project and spoke to the departmental officials working there.
During this, CM Dhami took detailed information from the officials of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited about the work being done at the railway station, infrastructure facilities and progress of the project. During this, the Chief Minister met the workers playing an important role in the project and also inquired about their well-being.
The dream of bringing rail to the mountains will be fulfilled
Chief Minister Dhami said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dream of bringing rail to the mountains is now being fulfilled. Through the gift of Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, the Prime Minister has shown his special love for Uttarakhand and the thinking of developed India.
All the four Dhams will be connected by rail connectivity
Chief Minister Dhami said that this rail line will prove to be a milestone in the development of Uttarakhand. Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Devbhoomi, the Chief Minister said that in the field of infrastructure development, the Prime Minister has given many gifts to the state of Uttarakhand, which includes all kinds of facilities along with transportation in Uttarakhand by the construction of all-weather road, air connectivity and rail lines. After the construction of Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, all the four Dhams of Uttarakhand will be connected by rail connectivity.
Winter travel will also be facilitated
The Chief Minister said that after the completion of the construction work of Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, the people of the state will not only get transport facilities, but the pilgrims and tourists coming to Badrinath and Kedarnath will also get full benefit of it. Passengers will also get convenience in winter travel. This rail project will improve the future along with the present and will prove to be a milestone for the state.
125 km long rail project
Rail project officials said that the length of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project is 125 km. It has 16 tunnels and 12 stations. A target has been set to complete most of the work of this project by December 2026. Karnaprayag railway station is being built in Sewai.
The 6.3 km escape tunnel from Bhattnagar of Gauchar to Sewai has been broken through on 25 December, while the 6.2 km main tunnel will be broken through in March. Now only 695 meters of work is left on the main tunnel, on which work is going on from both sides. Rail project officials said that work on a road bridge and a rail bridge is also in progress under the project in Sewai.
