The government formed 141 medical teams for the national games and gave instructions to stay alert

The preparations of the Dhami government for the 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand are in their final stages. 141 teams have been formed to provide medical facilities to the players and guests during the National Games. These teams will be in alert mode from January 28 to February 14. During this time, facilities ranging from ambulance to heli ambulance will be provided immediately if needed.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the National Games are a moment of pride for our state. It is our priority to provide the highest health facilities to the players and guests. Every small and big need has been taken care of. The Health Department has also made preparations for the National Games on a large scale. According to Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, State Nodal Officer, Deputy Nodal Officer and Co-Nodal Officer have been posted at the state level. District Nodal Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Nodal Officer Additional Chief Medical Officer have been appointed at the district level. District level nodal officers have been nominated for ambulances.

The Health Secretary said that a 10-bed hospital will be operated for the players in the Dhanvantari Block of Maharana Pratap Stadium, Raipur, Dehradun. Similarly, a two-bed hospital will be operated in IGICS Stadium, Gaula Par Haldwani. Adequate amount of medicines and equipment are being purchased for the players. According to the Health Secretary, Dr. Tarun Tamta, Chief Superintendent, District Hospital, Nainital has been nominated as the nodal officer of Kumaon Division. Let us tell you that Dr. Tamta has received education in Sports Medicine. Dr. KS Negi has been nominated as the nodal officer of Garhwal Division at the level of Director, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Garhwal Division Pauri Garhwal.

Instructions given to nodal officers to conduct on-site inspection

Nodal officers have been asked to conduct on-site inspection. Nodal officers and co-nodal officers have been appointed for primary health care, secondary health care and tertiary health care. In secondary health care, which is the district hospital, medical specialists such as neuro, cardiac, head injury and spine injury have been kept on-call (247) during the said period. 3 on-call (247) ambulances are deployed in each district hospital with necessary medicines. On-call (24*7) teams have been deployed in medical units near the residence of the players participating in the sports event. Arrangement of listed hospitals has been made in every district.

Doctors will be deployed on-call 24*7

A team has been formed in each sport and shift, in which doctor-1, nursing staff-2, physiotherapist-2 (female/male) and ward boy-1 have been kept in the team. 1 team has been kept on standby. 1-ALS and 1-BLS ambulance have been deployed in all sports venues along with the medical team. 1 BLS ambulance has been kept on standby. 3 on-call (247) ambulances are deployed in every district hospital with necessary services. On-call (247) teams have been deployed in the medical units nearest to the residence of the athletes participating in the sports competition.

5 beds will be reserved in the trauma department till February 14

A total of 150 doctors, 300 nursing staff, 25 physiotherapists, 30 pharmacists and 50 ward boys have been deployed for the National Games. Similarly, 115 ambulances will be deployed during the National Games. These ambulances are departmental and 108 service. 5 beds will be reserved in the trauma department of AIIMS Rishikesh from 28 January 2025 to 14 February 2025. If needed, airlift facility will be provided through heli ambulance. Along with this, 50 medical officers have been provided training for capacity building in AIIMS Rishikesh.
