Uttarakhand: Accused arrested with illegal liquor worth Rs 1 lakh, plan was to spoil the atmosphere during elections

Pithoragarh police has foiled the conspiracy to spoil the election atmosphere and arrested an accused with 10 boxes of illegal English liquor. The value of the liquor recovered from the accused is being told to be one lakh rupees.

In order to conduct the municipal elections fairly and peacefully, Pithoragarh SSP Rekha Yadav had instructed the police to take strict action against illegal liquor mafias. In line with the instructions of the SSP, the police is doing intensive checking and blockade at all the entry points of the district. Last night, the police stopped a suspicious Scorpio car near Jakhani Tiraha and searched it.
The value of the liquor is being told to be one lakh rupees
During checking, 10 boxes of illegal English liquor have been recovered from the car. The value of the recovered liquor is being told to be around one lakh rupees. The accused has been identified as Pradeep Maher, son of late Chanchal Singh, resident of Pithoragarh. The police have registered a case against the accused under the Excise Act and have also seized his car. It is being said that the accused was trying to spoil the atmosphere during the elections by using the recovered liquor.
