Truth and Reality

Fake saint Asaram, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment in two cases of heinous crimes like rape, is currently out of jail on interim bail granted by the Supreme Court in the name of treatment.

On 7 January, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail till 31 March on the condition that he will neither be able to meet his supporters nor deliver sermons while he is out of jail on bail. But flouting these conditions of bail i.e. the Supreme Court, Asaram is meeting his supporters as well as delivering sermons.

For the last six days, he is at his ashram i.e. base in Indore, from where he was arrested by the Rajasthan Police after a lot of difficulty on 1 September 2013. At present, while staying in Indore, Asaram is meeting a large number of his supporters at his base every day and is also delivering sermons. All this is happening under the supervision of the police administration. It is clear that the Supreme Court’s order has no meaning for the police administration of Madhya Pradesh either.

Among Asaram’s devotees in Indore, there are many politicians, businessmen, newspaper owners, senior journalists, lawyers, professors etc. Anyway, Asaram’s purpose of coming to Indore is not only to meet his supporters and deliver sermons.

Actually, during his ‘good days’ Asaram had invested a lot of his money with some of his devotee businessmen and politicians in Indore, so the main purpose of Asaram’s visit to Indore is to inquire about the well-being of that money or to recover it. But this purpose of his is probably not going to be fulfilled now, because the people with whom the money has been invested are of a ‘higher status’ than Asaram.

Anyway, India is a democratic country. The values and culture here are of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The one who has the money, and those who are enjoying with that money, they all belong to the same family. So why discuss a family matter too much? But the open flouting of the Supreme Court’s order may or may not be a matter of concern for the Supreme Court, but it is natural for the civilized section of the society to be concerned about it.
