Uttarakhand: Cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat also could not ensure victory for BJP, independent Aarti Bhandari defeated BJP’s Aasha for the post of Srinagar Municipal Corporation mayor

BJP has suffered a major setback in the mayoral post of Srinagar, the only municipal corporation of Pauri district. Independent candidate Aarti Bhandari has won the Srinagar mayor post by more than 1,639 votes. Aarti Bhandari got a total of 7,959 votes. While BJP’s Asha Upadhyay got 6,320 votes. The special thing is that Srinagar Assembly is the stronghold of BJP MLA Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat. Aarti Bhandari has rebelled against the BJP and contested the election as an independent candidate.

After her victory, the newly elected mayor Aarti Bhandari expressed gratitude to the public and assured that she will fully implement her manifesto. She said, this victory is the victory of the public. I will make every possible effort for the development of Srinagar.
