Uttarakhand: Finance Secretary V Shanmugam became the first Registrar General of UCC, Additional Chief Secretary issued the order

On January 27, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the UCC manual and portal for the implementation of Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand. Since then, Uniform Civil Code has been implemented in the state. Sub-registrar, Registrar and Registrar General have been appointed to effectively implement the UCC. In this sequence, IAS officer V Shanmugam has been made the Registrar General of UCC. IAS V Shanmugam has become the first Registrar General of UCC.

Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has issued orders to appoint IAS V Shanmugam, UCC as the Registrar General of UCC. According to the order issued, by the notification number-105/xx(5)/24-03(10)2024 issued by the Government of Uttarakhand on January 27, exercising the powers conferred in Section 12(1) of the Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand 2024 (Act No.-03. Year 2024), the Secretary, Finance Department and Uttarakhand Government is to be appointed to the post of Registrar General to discharge all the responsibilities other than willful succession under the UCC, due to which Dr. V. Shanmugam has been made the Registrar General of UCC.

In such a situation, all the necessary resources will be made available to the Secretary of Finance Department V. Shanmugam by the Home Department, Uttarakhand Government to discharge the responsibilities of the Registrar General. Let us tell you that the appointment of Sub Registrar and Registrar has already been done by the Uttarakhand Government for better implementation of the provisions of the Uniform Civil Code. At the same time, Finance Secretary Dr. V Shanmugam has been given the responsibility of the post of Registrar General, who will take care and monitor the related records.

On behalf of the Uttarakhand government, the Gram Panchayat Development Officer has been made Deputy Registrar and SDM Registrar at the village level. Along with this, the Executive Officer in Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Palika has been made Sub Registrar and SDM Registrar. In the same sequence, the Tax Superintendents in the Municipal Corporation have been made Sub Registrar and the Municipal Commissioner has been made Registrar. Apart from this, the Chief Executive Officer in the Cantt area has been made Registrar and the officer nominated by him has been made Sub Registrar.
