Uttarakhand: State’s share in central taxes increased, work of Jal Jeevan Mission will also be completed

What the hill state of Uttarakhand has expected from the central government is reflected in the general budget. The amount received by the state from the share in central taxes is estimated to increase to 15902 crores.

In the pre-budget conference, the state government had requested to set up a Center for Excellence for protection from cyber security and artificial intelligence. In the Union Budget, it has been announced to set up five such national centers in the country. Along with this, Uttarakhand will also benefit from the announcement of setting up 50 thousand Atal Tinkering Labs in schools.

The government believes that the announcements made in the budget will also accelerate the development of the state of Uttarakhand. In the current financial year, the state will get 444 crores more from central taxes. The share of the states for the coming year is estimated to be 15902 crores. This amount is very important for the state.

The Finance Minister had also requested to extend the time limit for completion of the remaining works under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. The central government has accepted the request and extended it till 2028. With this, there is now enough time to complete the works of the schemes of Jal Jeevan Mission. Many schemes are incomplete in the state.

A provision of 1.5 lakh crore loan has been made in the budget for the capital development of the states. This is 25,000 crores more than this year’s revised estimate of 1,25,000 crores. Uttarakhand has benefited from this interest-free scheme in the last two years.

Increasing the provision has also raised the hope of getting more funds for the infrastructure works of the state. The working people of the state will benefit from the exemption in income tax limit up to 12 lakhs. Broadband connectivity in government schools will lay a strong foundation for the knowledge economy of the state, air connectivity will be promoted. Home stays, start-ups and farmers of the state will also benefit from the announcements.
