CM Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute

On the demise of Bimla Bahuguna, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also reached his residence in Shastri Nagar and paid tribute to him. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the work done by Sunderlal Bahuguna and his wife Bimla Bahuguna for the environment can never be forgotten.

His wife, who always stood shoulder to shoulder with him in the Save Environment Movement, may not be in this world today, but as much as late Sunderlal Bahuguna is remembered, his wife will also be remembered as much. The Chief Minister reached his residence and consoled the family and also prayed for the peace of the departed soul.

After this, her body was taken to Purnanand Ghat in Rishikesh where she was cremated in the presence of her family. Remembering her, Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay said that late Sunderlal Bahuguna and his wife have spread the love for nature not only in the country but also abroad.

Bimla Bahuguna went to jail with her 7-year-old son

He said, ‘It was probably the year 2009 when she was present in the Save Environment movement in Jammu and Kashmir and Arunachal and Kishore Upadhyay himself was present with her at that time. She had so much knowledge about the environment that there is no limit, how can we forget the fight fought for the Tehri Dam displaced people. In which both of them had a big contribution. Not only this, when Uttarakhand was a part of Uttar Pradesh, when she went to jail in 1971 during the movement against liquor in the hills, her 7-year-old son was also present with her. She lived her life with movement and struggle and today she has become immortal’.
