Uttarakhand: Smart electricity meters will be installed at the houses of ministers, CM Dhami gave instructions

While on one hand the opposition to the installation of smart electricity meters in Uttarakhand is increasing, on the other hand, Energy Secretary Meenakshi Sundaram has said that the decision to install it has been taken at the central level and not at the state level. Meenakshi Sundaram has said that the installation of this meter will benefit the consumers.
All information will be available on mobile
Uttarakhand Energy Secretary Meenakshi Sundaram has resolved the doubts of the public regarding the prepaid electricity meters being installed in the state. Meenakshi Sundaram, while talking to journalists on Saturday, said that the decision to install smart electricity meters in homes has been taken at the central level. The state has no role in this.
At present, postpaid meters are being installed
If Meenakshi Sundaram is to be believed, then only postpaid electricity meters are being installed in the state. These meters are smart meters and can be connected to the mobile. The consumer can get information about his daily consumption on the mobile itself. According to Meenakshi Sundaram, at present the meters that the department is installing in people’s homes are postpaid meters and if a consumer installs a prepaid meter, he will get a discount of four percent in the electricity bill. According to Meenakshi Sundaram, by installing smart meters, consumers will be motivated to save electricity.
Complaints of meter reading will be removed
According to Meenakshi Sundaram, most of the complaints are about readings in electricity meters. In such a situation, after the installation of new smart meters, these complaints will be removed. According to Meenakshi Sundaram, problems of wrong readings are also registered on the CM’s complaint portal. In such a situation, the problems being faced by the people will be resolved by installing smart meters.
Smart meters will be installed at the houses of ministers first
In view of the public opposition in this whole matter, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has also intervened. CM Dhami has directed that first smart meters will be installed at the government and private residences of all the ministers of the state. CM Dhami has directed Principal Secretary Meenakshi Sundaram in this regard. The Secretary Energy himself has also got a smart meter installed at his home.
