Gold smuggling case, Kannada actress reveals supplier’s description: Got an internet call, was asked to meet a 6 feet tall man in Dubai
In the Karnataka gold smuggling case, Kannada actress Ranya Rao has described the appearance of the man she met at Dubai airport. This was the man who gave her gold, with which she was arrested at Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport.
During interrogation by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), the 33-year-old actress said that she had received an internet call. She was instructed on the call to meet a man near the espresso machine in the dining lounge of Gate A of Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.
She was told that the man she was going to meet was wearing Arab dress or ‘Kandura’. Ranya Rao said that the man she met was well built. He was more than 6 feet tall. He had an African-American accent and was wheatish in complexion.
Ranya said that when she met the man, they had a very short conversation. After this, the man gave two packets wrapped in thick plastic, which contained gold. Ranya claimed that this was the first time she was smuggling gold.
On Friday, the special court for economic crimes refused to grant bail to Ranya. The court said – the allegations against Ranya are serious. She should remain in judicial custody.
Constable’s claim – Ranya’s DGP father helped A constable who helped Ranya claimed that Karnataka DGP and Ranya’s stepfather Ramachandra Rao had ordered him to take his daughter out of the airport as per protocol.
Three agencies are investigating against Ranya Apart from DRI, CBI and now ED are also investigating against Ranya. On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case against the Kannada actor. On the other hand, the Karnataka government ordered an investigation against Ranya’s stepfather. However, it was withdrawn after some time.
Ranya’s friend Tarun Raju in judicial custody for 15 days In the gold smuggling case, Tarun Raju has been sent to judicial custody for 15 days on the request of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). Tarun Raju is a friend of the actress. It is alleged that he also used to help in smuggling.
Ranya is in judicial custody till March 24 Ranya Rao was produced in the special court on March 11. The court has sent her to judicial custody till March 24. Ranya accused the DRI of torturing her in the court. She started crying in the court. Ranya said- ‘I am in shock and emotionally broken.’
