Uttarakhand: CM Dhami’s instructions… Funding received by illegal madrasas will be investigated, so far 136 madrasas have been sealed

After taking strict action against illegal madrasas, the Uttarakhand government is now going to conduct a thorough investigation of their funding. The report of which will be submitted directly to the Chief Minister by the officials. For the past one month, extensive action is being taken against illegal madrasas in the state.
The Dehradun district administration team on Monday sealed a large madrasa in Sahaspur after earlier giving notice in the illegal construction case. The said madrasa had illegally constructed one floor without the permission of the authority. The question is where is the money coming from to run these madrasas and pay the salaries of the workers? After the investigation, it will be clear whether these madrasas operating in Devbhoomi are getting funding from other countries.
District level committee will investigate
There are about 450 registered madrasas in the state, which give the government complete details of their documents, bank accounts and income-expenditure. But more than 500 madrasas are being operated without any recognition. The government has issued strict instructions to the district administration to verify the children studying in these madrasas and to check their financial sources. It will also be ensured that from which source these madrasas are getting funds and for what purpose it is being used.
Illegal madrasas opening in areas adjoining the border
In the recent past, many madrasas have been reported to be opened without registration in towns adjoining UP like Jaspur, Bajpur, Kichha, Kashipur, Rudrapur, Gadarpur, Pachhadun and Haridwar district. The increasing number of illegal madrasas in these areas is a matter of serious concern from the security point of view.
How many illegal madrasas were sealed
District | Number of illegal madrasas |
Udham Singh Nagar | 64 |
Dehradun | 44 |
Haridwar | 26 |
Pauri Garhwal | 02 |
Action against illegal madrasas, mazars and encroachment will continue in the state. Running of madrasas on a large scale illegally is a serious matter. Necessary guidelines have been given to the officials for its investigation.
