The first wheel of Jan Shatabdi Express going from Dehradun to New Delhi got jammed near Nangal railway station. The train stopped in the middle of the route. Due to jamming of the wheel, about 50 meters of rail track got damaged. The fork of the track also got damaged. The train narrowly escaped from catching fire.
The incident happened on Friday morning around 8:30. As soon as train number 12057 Jan Shatabdi Express going from Dehradun to Delhi crossed Nangal railway station, about 150 meters ahead near Mirpur gate, a wheel of the engine suddenly got jammed. Due to this, the train started dragging on the track. The clips of the track got uprooted for about 50 meters. The rail track and the fork got damaged. Due to the sudden jerk, the passengers fell on each other as the train stopped.
Many passengers jumped out fearing an accident. As soon as the information was received, railway officials and employees started reaching the spot. The track is being repaired. Officials have started investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the train has been stuck near the station for about an hour. Railway officials said that another engine is being called. The train will be sent forward after the engine arrives.
