Leave America or else… Why did Zelensky’s 240000 people get tensed because of one email?

b
Ukrainians received a mail from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), stating that their parole status was being revoked and they were asked to leave the US within seven days. It was clarified in the mail that if they do not leave the US within the stipulated time, legal action can be taken against them.
President Donald Trump’s strict immigration policy is believed to be behind this mail. The Trump administration has already revoked the parole status of about 5.3 lakh immigrants from Venezuela, Cuba and Haiti. Ukrainians who were living in the US under the Biden administration’s Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) plan, their status is also now in danger.
The mail caused a stir
As soon as this mail came out, there was a stir in the Ukrainian community. Many MPs started receiving calls from troubled citizens from their constituencies. Later DHS clarified that this mail was sent by mistake and the U4U parole program for Ukraine has not been stopped yet.
The U4U program launched by the Biden administration allows Ukrainians displaced after the Russia-Ukraine war to live and work temporarily in the US. It is valid for two years and millions of people are living in the US under this scheme.
Fear of Trump’s power
Although Ukrainians have got relief for the time being, the fear has not ended due to Trump’s statements. Trump has already indicated that he is in favor of ending all comprehensive parole programs. He said that he will take a decision on this soon and also made it clear that he does not want to harm anyone, but the security of America is his priority.
This situation is a matter of concern for Ukrainian President Zelensky, because changing the policy of the countries where his citizens have taken refuge can affect their security and future. At present it was just a technical mistake, but if the policy changes after Trump’s return, then millions of Ukrainians may have to leave America.
