There is little hope of an early end to the Gaza war. Hamas has rejected the ceasefire proposal in which all armed groups in Gaza were asked to surrender. Hamas also alleged that Israeli PM Netanyahu is obstructing peace efforts and ending the 18-month-long war. Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri said on Monday that his group is ready to negotiate on all proposals to reduce the suffering of the people. But the latest proposal made by Israel and asked the Palestinians to accept it is for ‘surrender’. Meanwhile, the US has also sent new weapons worth millions of dollars to Israel and Israel is going to take major military action. Abu Zuhri said, ‘Netanyahu is putting impossible conditions to obstruct the ceasefire agreement.’ He said that Israel is not promising in its latest proposal that it will completely stop the attacks. Israel only wants the hostages back. We are ready to release all the dead and alive hostages but this will happen only when the war is over and the Israeli army withdraws from Gaza.’

‘Will not surrender to Israel’

Hamas spokesperson said that surrender is not an option for the Hamas movement and we will not accept breaking the will of the people. Hamas will not surrender, we will not accept defeat and will adopt all kinds of pressure methods against the attacking force. Israel’s latest proposal talks about 45 days of peace. It asks for the release of all the hostages. In return, Israel will allow food and aid to go inside Gaza.

‘War in Gaza should end immediately’

Meanwhile, more than 250 former officials of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency appealed to the government to immediately end the war in the Gaza Strip. According to Israel’s state-owned Kan TV News, the former officials wrote a letter to the government demanding this. According to the report, the signatories include three former Mossad chiefs Danny Yatom, Efraim Halevy and Tamir Pardo, as well as dozens of other senior officials.

Former Mossad members said, ‘Continuous fighting is endangering the lives of hostages and our soldiers. Every effort must be made to reach an agreement that ends this suffering. We appeal to the government to take a bold decision and act responsibly for the security of the country.’ According to news agency Xinhua, they expressed support for hundreds of military personnel, (whether in reserve or retirement), who had signed a similar letter. The letter appealed for an end to the war and the return of the hostages.
