Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that some anti-social elements are trying to divide the society in the name of regionalism and casteism due to their political interests, but we will not allow any kind of harm to the unity, integrity and social harmony of Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a program organized in Haridwar on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Constitution maker Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. During this, Dr. BR Ambedkar Mahamanch honored the Chief Minister for implementing UCC in Uttarakhand. The CM said that this honor is not just for a person, but for the ideology, which has raised the voice of justice and equality in Indian society for years. He described Baba Saheb as a visionary. Said that Dr. Ambedkar believed that true equality is not possible in the society until every citizen of the country gets equal rights.
It was this thinking that inspired him to give a place in the Constitution to a revolutionary concept like Uniform Civil Code. The CM said that Baba Saheb was neglected for years. His ideas were marginalized. Whereas today’s India is moving towards adopting his dreams. PM Modi’s guidance and our strong willpower together have made this historic decision possible. The Chief Minister said, the state government is also fully committed to preserving the cultural values and demography of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Strict action is being ensured against the hateful mentality that plays with the state.
UCC implemented in Uttarakhand with a bang: Modi
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Hisar, Haryana that after the BJP government came to power in Uttarakhand, the Uniform Civil Code was implemented with a bang. The spirit of the Constitution is that there should be a uniform civil code for everyone, which I call Secular Civil Code. But Congress never implemented it. See the misfortune of the country, the people of Congress, who are sitting with the Constitution in their pockets, are opposing it as well.
