Chardham Yatra: Doctors from many cities came forward for duty, pilgrims will get better security cover

For the first time, the approval of deployment of PG doctors in Chardham Yatra will provide better security cover to the pilgrims. After the announcement of the National Medical Commission (NMC), PG doctors from medical colleges across the country are contacting to provide health services in the Yatra.

MD, MS and DNB PG doctors will be able to obtain District Residency Program (DRP) certificate by serving in Chardham Yatra. NMC has clarified that the services provided during the Yatra will be valid under clinical rotation or DRP. Doctors will not have to undergo a separate three-month training for this.

Pilgrims will get specialist services
The state government had sought permission from NMC for voluntary deployment of PG doctors to provide better health services to the pilgrims in Chardham Yatra. After the approval of NMC, now doctors doing PG from medical colleges across the country are getting positive response to provide services in the Yatra.

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said, the decision to deploy PG doctors in the Yatra will provide specialist services to the pilgrims. Apart from this, the trainee doctors will also get practical experience of dealing with high Himalayan medicine and emergency situations.
