These include kutcha and pucca houses and shops. The cabinet on Tuesday gave the green signal to the proposal to issue the final notification of the flood plain area of ​​Rispana. After the notification is issued, pillars will be installed by the irrigation department for demarcation in the flood plain area.

In Uttarakhand too, flood plain areas of rivers are being notified in sequence of the orders of the National Green Authority. In case of flood in the river, how much area can be engulfed by its water is called the flood plain area.

To notify it, the maximum impact area of ​​flood in 100 years and 25 years is assessed. Flood plain areas are notified on this basis. In this, no work including permanent construction can be done which obstructs the flow of water. If any work is necessary, then permission will have to be taken for it.

The flow area of ​​Rispana is 22.5 km from its origin Shikharfal to Mothrowala. The spread of the river has been estimated from 9.97 meters to 100 meters. If we look at the frequency of 25 years, the maximum flow of water in this river has been 35 cumec in Shikharfal and 208 cumec in Mothrowala. As per the frequency of 100 years, it has been 71.5 cumec in Shikharfal and 364 cumec in Mothrowala.

Efforts have also started for the flood plain area of ​​Bindal, another river flowing through Dehradun city. This river starts from Old Rajpur Caravan and travels till Mothrowala. These days a survey is going on for its flood plain area and then the work of analyzing the data is to be completed by 31 October.

According to Purushottam, Executive Engineer of Irrigation Department, a provisional notification will be issued by determining the flood plain area of ​​Bindal by 31 December this year. After this, objections and claims will be received till 28 February next year. Time till 31 May has been kept for their disposal. This period can also be extended if needed. The effort is to issue the final notification of the flood plain area of ​​​​Bindal by 31 March 2027.
