Additional Secretary of Urban Development Department Gaurav Kumar has issued a letter to all the Municipal Commissioners and Executive Officers of Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat and has given strict instructions. It has been said in the letter that at many places the local bodies are changing the names of roads and public places without the permission of the government, which is against the rules.
The local body will have to send the proposal to the government
The Additional Secretary of the Urban Development Department has said in the letter that from now on, before changing the name of any road or public place, the local body will have to send a proposal to the government. The process of name change will be able to move forward only after getting the formal permission of the government.
There was a controversy over changing the name of Mianwala
It is being told that this order of the Dhami government has come due to the controversy that arose after the name of Mianwala area was changed to ‘Ramjiwala’. The decision to change the name of Mianwala was opposed by the local people. They met the CM and demanded to withdraw the name change. After this, CM Dhami also gave proper assurance to the local people in this regard.
