The government has started taking strict steps regarding sex ratio in Haryana. The aim of the government is to improve the sex ratio. In the review meeting of the State Task Force chaired by Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Sudhir Rajpal, many important decisions were taken to increase the sex ratio. Now the government has decided to identify villages with sex ratio less than 700. Special attention will be given to villages with low sex ratio.
In the meeting, Dr. Kuldeep Singh said that the sex ratio according to the village (from 2019 to March 2025) has been compiled and special attention will be given to villages with low sex ratio. STF Convenor Dr. Virendra Yadav said that according to the Civil Registration System (CRS) portal, the sex ratio of the state is 911 as of April 22, 2025. Apart from this, the steps to be taken in future to improve the sex ratio in the state were also reviewed in the meeting. Dr Virendra Yadav also informed that a show cause notice has been issued to the Drug Control Officer (DCO) of Sonipat district for giving incomplete report.
Yadav informed the meeting that the license of a BAMS doctor of district Sonipat, who violated the PC & PNDT Act, MTP Act, has been cancelled by the Haryana Medical Council. In the last one month, out of a total of 1500 MTP centers in the state, 379 MTP centers have been closed and registration of 16 MTP centers has been suspended. There has been a decline in the sale of MTP kits in Haryana.
The meeting was informed that in villages with sex ratio less than 700, on April 25, 2025, special Beti Bachao Beti Padhao camps will be organized by the Senior Medical Officer in charge of the respective Community Health Centers in collaboration with the Program Officer, WCD. He also informed that all the Directors of DGHS Office will participate in these camps in their allotted districts and cover at least two villages.
The meeting was informed that all the officers of the State Drug Controller Office posted at the State Headquarters have been allotted districts and they will visit the area to prevent unauthorised/illegal sale of MTP kits. The sale of MTP kits will be cross checked by the DCO. All civil surgeons will monitor the sale of MTP kits in their districts.
