IPL 2025: Rajat Patidar gave credit to the bowlers for the first win at home, Kohli said – we have found a way to win

a
Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their first win at home in IPL 2025 on Thursday. RCB defeated Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs in the match played at Chinnaswamy Stadium. After the win, RCB captain Rajat Patidar credited the bowlers for the victory. Josh Hazlewood took four wickets for 33 runs for RCB and bowled brilliantly. He turned the match by taking two wickets in the 19th over of RR’s innings.
What did Rajat say?
Rajat said, ‘This victory was very important for us. The pitch was not what was expected. But full credit for the victory goes to the bowlers. The way they bowled after the 10th over was commendable. The passion they showed was fantastic. We were looking for wickets. You can stop runs only when you get wickets. I always support my instincts first, but we have many leaders and their inputs help a lot.’
Kohli said this
Virat Kohli also looked happy with the victory at home. He said, ‘Very happy. We had discussed some things as a batting unit and implemented the plan well to get a good score on the board. The dew helped a lot in the second innings and the RR batsmen played good shots, but we came back and it was really important to get those two points. The first challenge here is to win the toss and the chase becomes a little easier in the second half. We were trying hard to score well in the first few matches, but in this match we had full license.’
‘Memories attached to Chinnaswamy’
Kohli said, ‘There is pace and bounce in the first three-four overs and I think we tried to hit too many shots in the initial overs in the last three matches. However, against RR we let the ball come and adjusted ourselves to that situation and we were able to take advantage of it. We have found a way to bat now and in the next few home matches we will be in a better position to score 15-20 runs extra. This is the best place to play cricket in the IPL. The fans supported us during good and bad times. This is a special place and many special memories are associated with it.’
What happened in the match?
RCB posted a good score of 205 for five with half-centuries from star batsmen Virat Kohli (70 runs) and Devdutt Padikkal (50 runs) and a 95-run partnership in 51 balls for the second wicket between the two. But due to Hazelwood’s brilliant bowling, Rajasthan Royals could only score 194 for nine in 20 overs. Hazelwood was adjudged the Player of the Match. For Rajasthan, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 49 runs in 19 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes and Dhruv Jurel scored 47 runs in 34 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes. In the 19th over, Hazlewood dismissed Jurel and Joffra Archer on two consecutive balls.
