Uttarakhand: Amendment in Panchayati Raj Act approved by deviation, OBC reservation will be implemented, these people will be able to contest elections

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved the proposal to amend the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Act 2016 with deviation (special rights). Due to which, in the three-tier panchayat elections, this time before 25 July 2019, those who have more than two living children will be able to contest elections. At the same time, OBC reservation will be implemented in the panchayats as per the recommendation of the single-member dedicated commission.
In the state, delimitation of panchayats for three-tier panchayat elections has been done last year in all other districts except Haridwar. Under which elections are to be held in 55635 gram panchayat wards, 7505 gram, 2936 area and 343 district panchayats, but due to non-conduct of elections on time, the government has appointed outgoing public representatives as administrators in village, area and district panchayats.
Whose tenure is to be amended in the Panchayati Raj Act before the end of the term and the elections. In view of which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved the proposal to amend it with deviation. Departmental officials say that after the approval of the CM, it has been sent to the Raj Bhavan. After approval from the Raj Bhavan, the notification for three-tier panchayat elections will be issued in the state.
