Uttarakhand: There will be relaxation in the age limit for children taking admission in class one, government has issued order

c
The Uttarakhand government has decided to give relaxation in the admission limit of children in the new academic session starting from April 1. Actually, it is mandatory for the children taking admission in class one to complete 6 years of age, but it has been seen that many children are not able to complete 6 years of age on April 1, due to which there were problems in their admission, in such a situation, the Uttarakhand government has amended the Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Rules 2011. Regarding which the Uttarakhand government has also issued a notification.
After the notification issued by the Uttarakhand government, now there will be no requirement of completing six years of age for admission of a child in class one in the state. That is, if the child completes six years of age by July 1 instead of April 1 in the new academic session, then he will get admission in class one. Through this notification, children have been given relief of three months.
After the amendment in the Uttarakhand Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Rules, it has come into effect from the current academic session 2025-26. Till now, children seeking admission in Class 1 in schools were not able to take admission due to the requirement of completing six years of age by the beginning of the academic session i.e. on 1st April.
At the primary level, the number of children seeking admission in nursery, LKG and UKG was such that they were not able to complete six years of age on 1st April, due to which it was decided to amend the Uttarakhand Right to Free and Compulsory Education Rules 2011. In this rule, instead of “month”, “start of academic session” was mentioned. After which, while amending this rule, the date of “1st July” was changed in place of “start of academic session”.
