Israel attacked several Iranian targets late on Wednesday night. This includes Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, missile production site and air defense system. Israel also destroyed Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor.

The Israeli Defense Force said that 40 fighter aircraft were deployed for this operation. Israel destroyed the Arak heavy water reactor and the facility related to nuclear weapons development near Natanz by dropping more than 100 bombs.

Arak reactor destroyed

The construction of the Arak reactor first started in 1997. But it was only partially built. When the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was agreed upon in 2015, Iran said that it would not use it in the production of plutonium. The Arak reactor is not operational, but Israel has now eliminated its scope.

There was no nuclear material in this reactor located 280 km from Iran’s capital Tehran, so there is no possibility of radiological effect from it. The International Atomic Energy Agency has also confirmed the attack on Iran’s sites.

Attack near Natanz too

Apart from this, Israel also attacked Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Kermanshah. Israel claims that projects for the development of unique components and equipment for nuclear weapons were going on near Natanz, which Israel also attacked to destroy.

Israel has made it clear that the operation will continue as long as necessary. Israeli military official Brigadier General Efi Defrin said that our goal is to reduce the threat to Israel’s existence.
