A major rail accident was averted in Roorkee’s Ganganahar Kotwali area. The Janseva Express going from Amritsar to Bihar had to be stopped suddenly near Safarpur village, which created panic among the passengers.

Passengers jumped off the train and ran away

According to the information received, due to technical fault in the train, the brakes suddenly got stuck, due to which the speed of the train slowed down and the driver showed alertness and stopped it in time. As soon as the news of the possibility of brake failure spread, there was panic among the passengers. A large number of passengers jumped off the train in panic and started running towards the nearby fields.

Train sent off after inspection

Railway officials and security personnel who reached the spot tried to convince the passengers, after which the situation gradually became normal. The train stopped at Safarpur village for about 15 minutes. After technical inspection, the train was declared safe. After this, all the passengers were seated back in the train and sent off.
