India has tested an extended range anti-submarine rocket system. This is expected to significantly increase the firepower of the Indian Navy. The Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ERASR) has been successfully tested from INS Kavaratti.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defense Research Development Organization, Indian Navy and the industry involved in the development and testing of this system.

He said that the successful induction of this system will increase the firepower of the Indian Navy. This rocket system is a completely indigenous anti-submarine weapon.

Successfully tested in various ranges
The Indian Navy said that it has two rocket motors installed which meet the requirements of a wide range with high accuracy and stability. During this, a total of 17 ERASRs were successfully tested in various ranges.

Increased anti-submarine capability of the Navy
The successful test of ERASR has increased the anti-submarine capability of the Indian Navy. This will provide new strength to the maritime security and strategic accountability of the Indian Navy. It is expected to enter mass production and formally join the fleet in the coming months.
