A new controversy has arisen in the field of school education in Uttarakhand. After the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the day is being started with the verses of the Bhagavad Gita in the schools of the state, but now this decision is not being liked by a section of teachers. The teachers have written a letter to the Education Department and objected to the government’s decision.
Teachers objected to teaching Bhagavad Gita in schools
Teachers of many schools in the state have protested against this and submitted a written request letter to the director, in which this step has been described as against constitutional values. In particular, the SC-ST Teachers Association has come out and opposed the government’s decision and said that implementing the education of any one religion in educational institutions is contrary to the secular spirit of the Constitution.
Violation of the rights of other communities
SC-ST Teachers Association State President Sanjay Tamta issued a statement saying that it is clearly recorded in the Constitution that the state will not have any religion. Teaching a particular religious text in the name of education is a violation of the rights of other communities. We are in favour of imparting moral education to children, but making teaching the book of any one religion compulsory is not universally acceptable.
