In protest against the increasing crimes and atrocities against women in the country, Uttarakhand Mahila Congress on Monday took out a peaceful “Nyay March” in the capital Dehradun. The march started from Centrio Mall and moved towards the Raj Bhavan, which was led by Mahila Congress state president Jyoti Rautela.

Through the demonstration, Mahila Congress accused the BJP government of failing to protect women. During the march, Mahila Congress workers raised slogans and demanded the government to provide justice and security to women, as well as give severe punishment to the culprits.
Police stopped the demonstration moving towards the Raj Bhavan
However, the police stopped the demonstration moving towards the Raj Bhavan and detained many women workers including Mahila Congress president Jyoti Rautela. Terming this action as dictatorship, Mahila Congress said that their voice raised democratically cannot be suppressed.
Government is killing democracy: Jyoti
Jyoti Rautela said that the way the police has stopped our peaceful demonstration is the murder of democracy. Rautela said that we will continue to raise our voice until women get true justice and a safe environment. It is worth noting that according to the data of NCW, 28,811 complaints were registered against women in the year 2023, which includes serious cases like domestic violence and sexual harassment.
