Uttarakhand: Congress raised objection on double voter list, demanded to ban Panchayat elections

The controversy over the Panchayat elections to be held in Uttarakhand is not taking the name of stopping. On Wednesday, a delegation of the Congress Party led by the state president of Yuva INTUC Pankaj Singh Chhetri met the Secretary State Election Commission and demanded a ban on the elections.

The Congress delegation, citing an order of the High Court, said that if the nomination of a candidate can be canceled on the ground that his name is registered in two voter lists, then why are such voters being allowed to vote at more than one place? The Congress delegation demanded that the voters whose names are registered at two places should be identified and separated and the election process should be stopped till then.

The matter is pending in HC: Secretary
The Secretary of the State Election Commission said that the matter is currently pending in the High Court. Whatever order will be passed by the court, the commission will comply with it. Apart from the state president of Yuva INTUC Pankaj Singh Chhetri, the delegation included many workers including Congress councilor candidate Sarita Bisht, Ashwani Bisht, Ajay Rawat, Ashish Mall.
