The Dhami government is preparing to take strict action against non-registered and low-level de-addiction centers in Uttarakhand. On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Health Department along with the police administration is conducting surprise inspections of de-addiction centers running across the state.

An important meeting was held on Monday between senior officials of the State Mental Health Authority of the Uttarakhand government and Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh of the State Task Force (STF). In which the strategy regarding the process of identification, investigation and closure of such unregistered and illegal de-addiction centers was discussed. In the meeting, it was agreed to ensure action by establishing coordination between all the concerned agencies.

Centers running without valid registration will be fined

STF teams will now actively assist the State Mental Health Authority and district level inspection teams. The State Mental Health Authority is ensuring that all centers running without valid registration are identified, financial penalty and legal action is taken against such centers and action is ensured to close them immediately. This entire process will be conducted under the Mental Health Care Act.
