Uttarakhand: Nainital District Panchayat President election result stayed, High Court will take decision on August 18

In Nainital district of Uttarakhand, the election result for the post of District Panchayat President has been put on hold for the time being. After the counting of votes which went on till late night, the election officials have prepared a report of the entire process and sent it to the Election Commission. Also, the election result has been kept safe in a sealed envelope. Nainital District Election Officer Vandana Singh told in detail about this.
According to District Election Officer Vandana Singh, the investigation report of the District Panchayat President election in Nainital has not been given by the SSP yet. Because after the hearing of the High Court, the entire process of voting was stopped. Apart from this, the time given by the commission for voting at five in the evening was also completed. That is why a report was sent to the commission, so that any guidelines could be received from the commission. Because there is no provision in this regard in the rules. The Commission was informed about the instructions to the High Court along with the information of the entire matter. After this, guidelines were given by the commission.
DM gave information on Nainital District Panchayat President election
The commission has said that the DEO (District Election Officer) should do his work according to the provisions. The DEO should take a decision accordingly. According to the rules, the DEO does not have the right to postpone or cancel the voting. The rules have a rule to conduct the counting of votes immediately after the voting. In such a situation, the commission had given instructions to work according to the rules. That is why the DEO has done the counting of votes with videography, but the results have not been declared.
The District Magistrate said that there is a hearing in the Uttarakhand High Court on August 18, the entire report will be submitted there. After that, whatever order the Uttarakhand High Court gives, the results will be announced according to that. If the court says so. The District Magistrate said that at present the election results and all the documents are sealed, which have been kept in double lock. The candidates have also been informed about this entire process. On the other hand, in response to the question whether the five members who have not voted till now should be included in the election process or not, the District Magistrate said that the formal announcement of the election result will be made only after the hearing in the court. The SSP’s report is also awaited.
