Himachal Pradesh : Chief Secretary informed the Governor about the preparations to deal with COVID

Chief Secretary Anil Khachi met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Raj Bhavan today and apprised him of various welfare schemes and programs of the State Government. He also informed about the preparedness of the government to deal with COVID-19 in the state and the present circumstances.

The Governor reviewed the preparedness to deal with the possible third wave of COVID-19. He said that the second wave of corona is almost over but we need to be alert for a possible third wave. Apart from emphasizing on the development of health infrastructure and availability of health workers, we have to follow the guidelines issued from time to time. He said that tourism activities have increased in the state, due to which there is a need to be more vigilant.

He expressed satisfaction at the current 0.56 percent ratio of active cases of COVID-19 and 7.7 percent positivity rate. He said that the present recovery rate of the state is 98 percent, which should be 100 percent. He stressed on intensifying the vaccination campaign in the state and said that vaccination is the only means to avoid this epidemic. He also discussed about the horticulture activities in Madhya Pradesh in view of the upcoming apple season and said that roads should be repaired before the start of apple season and new improvements should be made in the marketing system.

The Chief Secretary said that the State Government was ensuring proper and quality facilities in the hospitals of the State. During the second wave of Kovid-19, there was no shortage of oxygen in the state and concerted efforts are also being made to deal with the possible third wave of the pandemic. Health infrastructure is being strengthened in the state and the supply of equipment, medicines and necessary machinery has been ensured. He informed that adequate number of health workers have been deployed and special attention will be given to child health. Pediatricians have been alerted for this and regular webinars are being organized for them. Video conference is also being held with specialist doctors of PGI Chandigarh. He said that till now 4345139 doses of COVID vaccine have been given in the state.

Secretary Health and Family Welfare Amitabh Awasthi said that so far 26,33,662 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the state, out of which 24,28,930 have been found negative and 2,04,098 positive. He said that 1,99,444 patients have recovered and there are 1150 active cases. He said that 3486 people have died due to the pandemic and the death rate is 1.70 per cent. He said that 2632 oxygenated beds, 247 ICU beds and 3618 COVID beds are available in the state.

He provided information about the horticulture activities in the state and the government’s preparations for the upcoming apple season.
