Monsoon has taken the lives of 75 people in Uttarakhand so far, more than 90 are missing, loss of several hundred crores

This year the monsoon season has been full of troubles for Uttarakhand. Monsoon has given many such wounds to Uttarakhand, which will take many years to heal. In some areas, such tragedies have occurred, which have changed the geography of the entire area. Be it Garhwal or Kumaon, rain has wreaked havoc in both the divisions of Uttarakhand this time, which has taken the lives of many people. At the same time, many people are still missing.

If we look at the data of Uttarakhand Disaster Management Department, this year rain has taken the lives of 75 people so far. At the same time, there has been a loss of crores of rupees. More than 90 people are still missing. If we talk about the injured, their number has also crossed 107, to find whom many agencies are conducting search operations at different places.

Animals also lost their lives: These disasters have not only killed humans, but a large number of cattle. More than 1430 animals have lost their lives. While 226 houses have been completely destroyed in this rain. There are about 31 houses at different places in the state, where there are cracks or serious damage. At the same time, there are 1828 houses, which will need repair after the monsoon.

Farmers’ back broken: This rain has also caused a lot of damage to more than 190 hectares of agricultural land, due to which the farmers have been completely broken. Many disaster-affected areas are still cut off from their district and tehsil headquarters.

Department-wise loss data: After the monsoon stopped, the Uttarakhand government is seeking details of the damage caused in their respective districts from all the district officials. Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan had already given instructions to all the departments to provide complete information about the damage caused in their respective departments to the government.

According to the information received by the government so far

  • PWD (Public Works Department) has suffered a loss of Rs 554.38 crore.
  • Drinking Water Corporation suffered a loss of Rs 90 crore.
  • Minor irrigation has suffered a loss of Rs 35 crore.
  • Panchayati Raj department has suffered a loss of Rs 10 crore.
  • Energy department has suffered a loss of Rs 448 crore.
  • PMGSY has suffered a loss of Rs 415 crore.
  • Similarly, the irrigation department has also suffered a loss of more than Rs 400 crore.

Rain alert in the state till September 2: There is a possibility of this loss increasing. Because the havoc of rain has not stopped in Uttarakhand yet. If the Meteorological Department is to be believed, the period of heavy rain will continue in the state till September 2. At the same time, reports of damage are yet to come from many districts.

Proposals are being sent to the Center: According to Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan, a plan is being prepared for the rehabilitation of people in the places where they have to be rehabilitated in Uttarakhand. At the same time, after assessing the damage, assistance will be requested from the central government. Soon a proposal of the damage caused in the state will be sent to the central government. After this, it is expected from the Center that they will give relief amount from the disaster fund.

Major incidents of this year: On August 5, there was a disaster in Dharali of Uttarkashi, in which 6 people died. At the same time 65 people went missing. Apart from this, a lake was formed due to the stoppage of the flow of Yamuna river in Syana Chatti of Uttarkashi. Due to this, the entire area was flooded. The hotels and houses of the town were completely submerged, which posed a big threat to the entire area.

At the same time, at the beginning of monsoon this year, there was a flood of water from the mountain on the highway in Uttarkashi district itself. Seven workers engaged in the construction work of the highway were swept away in this flood, whose whereabouts are still unknown. Similarly, debris fell on the house in Uttarkashi district itself, due to which three people died.

Apart from Uttarkashi, many people have lost their lives due to rain in Tharali, Rudraprayag and Pauri Garhwal of Chamoli. However, this monsoon season, maximum damage and deaths have occurred in Uttarkashi district.
