Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached China on Saturday (30 August 2025) to attend the SCO summit. Apart from the summit, he will also hold separate bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Putin.

Grand welcome to PM Modi on the red carpet

Prime Minister Modi reached Tianjin, China after concluding his visit to Japan. As soon as he reached China, he was given a grand welcome on the red carpet. The Prime Minister will stay in China till September 1. Here, there will be talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and PM Modi on further normalizing the relations between the two countries.

PM Modi will hold separate talks with Putin and Jinping

PM Modi’s visit to China is taking place amidst the economic turmoil caused by Trump’s trade policy. After imposing 50 percent tariff on India, rapid changes are being seen in world politics. Russian President Vladimir Putin will also come to China to attend the SCO meeting. The PM will hold separate bilateral talks with the heads of state of both the countries here.

There is an atmosphere of excitement in Beijing about PM Modi’s visit to China. There are great expectations not only among the Indian community but also among local Chinese citizens and businessmen about this historic visit. This visit is being considered an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Leaders from more than 20 countries will reach the SCO meeting

The SCO Summit is going to be held in China from 31 August to 1 September. Leaders from more than 20 countries will participate in it. PM Modi and Xi Jinping last met in October 2024 during the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. During this, bilateral talks were also held between the two.

Before leaving for the tour of Japan and China, the Prime Minister on Thursday (28 August 2025) expressed confidence that this visit will take national interests and priorities forward. PM Modi said in a statement before leaving, “I am confident that my visits to Japan and China will advance our national interests and priorities. This visit will contribute to building meaningful cooperation in advancing regional and global peace, security and sustainable development.”
