PM Modi’s address on GST, said use domestic products instead of foreign ones.

New GST rates will come into effect nationwide tomorrow, September 21st. PM Modi addressed the nation on Sunday, stating that the time has come to replace foreign goods with indigenous products.

Appealed to citizens to buy and sell indigenous goods
In his address to the nation, PM Modi stated that now is the time to embrace indigenous products. He urged the public to use indigenous products in everyday life instead of foreign goods and proudly declare, “I buy indigenous, I sell indigenous.”

Savings for the general public during the festive season
PM Modi stated that the GST Savings Festival will benefit the poor, middle class, farmers, women, and business owners. People will be able to purchase their favorite goods more cheaply and easily. The Prime Minister further stated that everyone will save money during this festive season.

The implementation of GST in 2017 freed people from the maze of dozens of taxes: PM
Regarding GST reforms, PM Modi said that the Next Generation GST reforms will increase the happiness of every family in the country. The PM described it as a major step toward easing business, attracting investment, and promoting equal progress for states. Referring to the year 2017, the PM said that the implementation of GST in 2017 freed the country from the maze of dozens of taxes.

Relief from Taxes and Tolls
The Prime Minister further stated that previously, businesses had to navigate countless checkpoints and tax hassles to ship goods between different states. The situation was such that companies found it easier to ship goods to Europe than within the country. The PM said that the burden of this complex tax and toll complex ultimately fell on ordinary consumers, and therefore, it was necessary to free the country from these entanglements.

Everyday Items Will Become Cheaper: PM
PM Modi said that after forming the government in 2014, GST was prioritized, and by engaging all states, the country was freed from dozens of taxes. Now, the One Nation, One Tax system is in effect across the country. He said that after the new reforms, there will be only 5% and 18% tax slabs, which means that everyday items like food, medicines, brushes, paste and insurance will be cheaper than before.
