The mental and physical health of children is being compromised in Anganwadi centers in Dehradun. Rotten eggs are being distributed to children in the name of nutritious food. The government is running the Nutrition Diet Scheme to maintain children’s health.
To prevent malnutrition, various nutritious foods, including milk and eggs, are being distributed. However, a video of rotten eggs at an Anganwadi center in the Raipur area went viral on social media, causing alarm among departmental officials. The department has launched an investigation into the video.
Rotten Eggs Arriving at Anganwadis in Dehradun in the Name of Nutritious Food
Anganwadi centers in Uttarakhand fall under the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development. The District Program Officer (DPO) is responsible for checking the quality of nutritious food at these Anganwadi centers. However, the viral video of rotten eggs has exposed the way all activities are conducted at the centers.
Viral Video of Anganwadi Centers in Raipur Area
This video is reportedly from Anganwadi centers in the Raipur area. When Anganwadi workers went to collect eggs, they noticed a foul odor emanating from all the boxes. They found rotten eggs in each. The workers refused to accept the eggs. Meanwhile, the video went viral on the internet.
According to Banshi Lal Rana, Director of Women Empowerment and Child Development, the video has been taken cognizance of. The DPO has also been ordered to investigate. He stated that if any deficiencies are found in the nutritional food, it will be returned immediately.
Officials are not disclosing the name of the company
The department has issued a tender for the nutritional supply. However, officials are not disclosing the name of the company that supplied the rotten eggs, which has raised suspicions about their performance.
Previously, a case of expired milk has also surfaced
It should be noted that this is not the first time such a case has been reported at an Anganwadi center. Previously, a case of expired milk was reported at an Anganwadi center in the Deepnagar area. However, due to collusion between the company and officials, the investigation was suppressed. However, a video of rotten eggs now circulating on the internet has once again raised questions about the department’s functioning.
