In a significant decision, the court acquitted all the accused, including Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, in an eight-year-old case. The case was filed in 2017 by then-BJP MLA Ashok Bhagat, in which the minister and several others were named.
Notably, an 80-year-old man and several young people were also accused in the case. Reacting to her acquittal, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh said, “This attempt to mentally and socially harass people for years reflects the BJP’s political philosophy, which seeks to pressure opponents by implicating them in false cases.”
Expressing gratitude to the court, Minister Deepika said, “Truth can be suppressed and harassed, but it cannot be defeated. The court recognized the truth and gave us justice. This is not just a victory for me, but for every innocent person who has been harassed for years for political reasons.”
