Significant news is emerging from Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand, where the district administration has taken a significant decision regarding the Chhath Puja festival. Yes, October 27th has been declared a local holiday in Udham Singh Nagar district for the Chhath festival.

All educational institutions, including government, semi-government, and private schools and Anganwadi centers, will remain closed on this day. However, the order clarifies that this local holiday will apply only to government offices. Treasuries, sub-treasuries, and banks will not be covered by this local holiday. Meaning, these financial institutions will continue to function normally on October 27th.

District Magistrate Udham Singh Nagar, Nitin Bhadauria, has issued a new order changing the date of the local holiday declared for Chhath Puja in the district. The local holiday will now be observed on Monday, October 27th, 2025. Previously, this holiday was scheduled for Tuesday, October 28th, 2025. The District Magistrate has declared this holiday under the provisions of Paragraph 247 of the Manual of Government Orders (Revised), 1981, which empowers District Magistrates to declare three local holidays.
