Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Major action by the Excise Department; Liquor smuggling was being carried out under the guise of weddings and parties; a large consignment seized

In a major crackdown on illegal liquor in Dehradun, the Excise Department conducted a significant operation. During a raid in the Adhoiwala area, the department’s team seized 13 cases of illicit liquor from a house. Initial investigations revealed that the entire supply was part of a smuggling network operating under the guise of supplying liquor for weddings and parties.
Fake labels used to sell liquor at inflated prices
The raid uncovered that fake labels were being affixed to the liquor bottles to make them appear as expensive brands, allowing them to be sold at higher prices in the market. The main accused, Vakil Ahmed, was arrested at the scene. The search for his network and suppliers is ongoing.
Excise Department’s campaign to continue
Meanwhile, in a separate operation conducted late at night on Kanwali Road, 10 more cases of liquor were recovered. These continuous seizures have created panic among the illegal liquor gangs operating in Dehradun. Officials say that more stringent campaigns will be launched in the coming days to completely curb the illegal liquor trade.
