Uttarakhand: The Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy will begin on December 23rd, with millions of players having registered

The official announcement of the “Khel Mahakumbh” (Grand Sports Festival) being organized as the Chief Minister’s Champion Trophy was made today by Sports Minister Rekha Arya. She also announced the dates for the commencement of this state-level sports competition. She stated that the Chief Minister’s Championship Trophy will begin on December 23rd.

Providing details about the competition, the Sports Minister explained that it will be held at four different levels: the first at the Nyaya Panchayat (village council) level, the second at the Assembly constituency level, the third at the Parliamentary constituency level, and the fourth at the state level. Competitions will be held in 26 different sports disciplines. A special focus will be placed on traditional and indigenous sports.

The final and closing ceremony of this four-stage competition will be held on January 28th. The winners of the Chief Minister’s Champion Trophy will receive the CM Cup along with a prize money of ₹5 lakh. The winners will be decided based on the total points earned from the medals they win. In addition, the runners-up at the parliamentary level (below the state level) will receive a winning amount of ₹2 lakh, and those winning at the assembly level will receive ₹1 lakh in prize money.

Sports Minister Rekha Arya also announced that if any player breaks a national record during this four-stage competition, they will receive an additional ₹1 lakh. The registration process for the Chief Minister’s Championship Trophy began on October 14th. So far, more than 110,000 players from across the state have registered. The registration process will continue until December 22nd.

Opportunities for differently-abled athletes: This state-level competition also includes provisions for differently-abled athletes. Separate registration arrangements have been made for differently-abled athletes to participate in various competitions such as athletics, badminton, and swimming. The Sports Minister stated that differently-abled athletes from across the state are showing great interest in this competition and are registering in large numbers.
