Uttarakhand: Daylight firing on Roorkee-Laksar flyover, notorious criminal attacked, two policemen injured

Panic gripped the Roorkee area of Haridwar on Wednesday when a notorious criminal was shot at in broad daylight on the Laksar flyover while being taken to court for a hearing. Unknown assailants on motorcycles carried out the attack, causing a stir in the police department.
Vinay Tyagi, a notorious criminal imprisoned in Roorkee District Jail, was being transported to the Laksar court in a special police vehicle for a hearing on Wednesday. As the vehicle approached the Laksar flyover, the waiting motorcyclists suddenly opened fire. Vinay Tyagi was shot and seriously injured in the attack.
Two police officers injured in the firing
Two police constables on security duty were also reportedly injured in the firing. Following the incident, all the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Doctors say their condition is currently stable. The incident created chaos in the entire area, and traffic on the flyover was disrupted for some time.
Police are searching for the accused
Senior officers rushed to the scene upon receiving information about the incident. The police have cordoned off the area and are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras. Police teams have set up roadblocks and launched an intensive search operation in the district. The police say that those responsible for the attack will be arrested soon.
