A CBI investigation has been recommended into the much-discussed Ankita Bhandari murder case. However, the Congress party considers this government move insufficient. On Saturday, a march for Ankita Bhandari was held in Laldhang, Haridwar, attended by former Chief Minister Harish Rawat. The public meeting following the march saw strong slogans raised against the government. Harish Rawat stated that Congress has been continuously fighting to get justice for the daughter; this movement is not about taking credit. He stated that Congress has been demanding a CBI investigation under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge from the very beginning. Without this, a CBI investigation conducted by the government would remain incomplete. MLA Anupama Rawat also called a CBI investigation without a judge’s supervision meaningless.

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat stated that Congress is not taking any credit for the case of a daughter; it is only a matter of struggle for credit. Congress has been demanding a CBI investigation in Ankita Bhandari’s case since the beginning. Unless the investigation is conducted under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge, the investigation will remain incomplete and Ankita will never receive justice.

Haridwar Rural MLA Anupama Rawat stated that the entire country united to ensure justice for Ankita Bhandari, and the government had to relent. Due to pressure, the government recommended a CBI investigation, which is insufficient. A CBI investigation can only be meaningful under Supreme Court supervision. She raised Ankita Bhandari’s issue in the House, and the government responded that the VIP room was just a room. She warned that the struggle will continue until Ankita receives justice.
