Uttarakhand: Ragging at Doon Medical College! Student beaten with belts and slippers

A case of ragging and assault has emerged from a government medical college in Dehradun. Senior students are accused of severely beating a junior student. The victim has written to the medical college management and the chief warden informing them of the incident.

A case of assault by senior students on a junior student has come to light at Doon Medical College. The junior student has alleged that his seniors beat him severely with belts and shoes. He also stated that they tried to forcibly cut his hair. The victim has informed the Doon Medical College management and the chief warden about the incident in a letter. In the letter, the victim, a student of the 2025 batch, stated that students from the 2024 and 2023 batches brutally beat him with belts and slippers in the name of ragging.

Anti-Ragging Committee Launches Investigation
Meanwhile, the medical college principal, Dr. Geeta Jain, said that the anti-ragging committee is conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. Strict action will be taken against the guilty students after the committee’s report is received. The Disciplinary Committee has recorded the statements of the students. Dr. Geeta Jain clarified that indiscipline will not be tolerated in the college. If the allegations are found to be true, strict action will be taken against the culprits.
