Amid continuous snowfall in the high Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath, the abode of Baba Kedarnath, is completely covered in a blanket of white. Currently, there is about 3 to 4 feet of snow accumulated at the shrine.

Kedarnath temperature drops to -16 degrees Celsius
The temperature has dropped to below -16 degrees Celsius. Even in these harsh and challenging conditions, the personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Rudraprayag Police are diligently performing their duties. Despite the biting cold and icy winds, the personnel are continuously patrolling the temple complex and surrounding sensitive areas.

Recently, on the occasion of January 26th, these brave soldiers demonstrated their unwavering devotion to the nation by hoisting the tricolor flag amidst heavy snowfall. Even after the temple gates are closed, these personnel are diligently carrying out their responsibility of securing the shrine and monitoring government properties under the master plan.

Meteorological Department issues avalanche alert
In view of the alert issued by the Meteorological Department and the possibility of avalanches, the police administration has instructed the personnel to exercise special caution. The Rudraprayag district administration and police department have jointly stated that despite the challenging geographical conditions, the morale of the security forces is high. Security arrangements at Kedarnath Dham are completely foolproof.

Alert issued for these districts
According to the forecast issued by the Defence Geoinformatics Research Establishment (DGRE), an orange alert has been issued for Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag. An avalanche warning has also been issued. In addition, a yellow alert has been issued for Pithoragarh, while a green alert has been issued for Bageshwar district.
